In January 2023, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit engaged in online conversations with SEAN DYNAN, who believed he was communicating with a 14-year-old child. During the exchanges, DYNAN engaged in sexually explicit dialogue and arranged to meet with the purported 14-year-old child for sexual intercourse. On Wednesday, March 29, 2023, DYNAN drove to a location in Paramus, NJ to meet the purported 14-year-old child, who was actually an undercover detective from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit. Liaban, who sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound just after 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2023. The death is not suspected to involve criminal activity, but the circumstances surrounding the death are being investigated. We ask that the public provide Sergeant Liaban’s family, the Maywood Police Department, and the Bergen County law enforcement community privacy to grieve this sudden loss.
