For Immediate Release: May 26, 2023 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of ALIA ELSAFY (DOB: 1/26/2000; single; unemployed) of North Arlington, NJ on a charge of child endangerment. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the North Arlington Police Department under the direction of Chief Scott Hedenberg. On Friday, May 19, 2023, the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCPP) contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged overdose of a 6-month-old child. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the North Arlington Police Department revealed that ALIA ELSAFY endangered the welfare of the child by failing to supervise and allowing the child access to a suspected opioid that resulted in the child ingesting it. For Immediate Release: May 25, 2023 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella is seeking the public’s assistance for information leading to the arrest of AARON SIERRA (DOB: 10/10/2000; single; unemployed) of 87 N Taylor Street, Bergenfield, NJ, on charges of attempted murder, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a handgun, receiving stolen property and obstruction of justice by flight. These charges are the result of an ongoing investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Bergenfield Police Department under the direction of Chief Mustafa Rabboh. At approximately 6:50 p.m., on Sunday, May 21, 2023, the Bergenfield Police Department responded to a report of shots fired within a private residence. For Immediate Release: May 24, 2023 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced that on May 23, 2023, RAUL TORRES of North Bergen, NJ and CARLOS BURGOS of Jersey City, NJ were sentenced to 30 years in New Jersey State Prison (“NJSP”) after pleading guilty to aggravated manslaughter, robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, and weapons offenses in connection with the death of David Duque Soto in Fairview, NJ on June 29, 2019. On June 29, 2019, TORRES, BURGOS, and others conspired to rob David Duque Soto at his home at 415 4th Avenue in Fairview. During this armed robbery, Duque Soto was shot and subsequently died of his injuries. On March 31, 2023, BURGOS and TORRES pled guilty to entering the apartment armed with loaded handguns and shooting and killing the victim. On May 23, 2023, the Honorable Margaret M. Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announces the following information: The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Hackensack Police Department are investigating a shooting that occurred in the area of Clay Street and Second Street in Hackensack on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. At approximately 5:30 p.m., the Hackensack Police Department responded to a report of shots fired. Responding officers found a 35-year-old male victim with a graze wound from gunfire, and a second victim, a 40-year-old male, who had already been transported to Hackensack University Medical Center by a private automobile moments after the shooting where he is being treated.  An investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Hackensack Police Department under the direction of Officer-in-Charge Captain Michael Antista. For Immediate Release: May 19, 2023 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of GERRMAIOUD CHAPE (DOB: 4/28/1980; married; self-employed) of 46 Howard Avenue, Rochelle Park, NJ on charges of theft by deception, theft, and forgery. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love. In January 2023, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Financial Crimes Unit received a complaint that GERRMAIOUD CHAPE was involved in mortgage related fraud through the use of his company, 10 PERCENT GROUP, LLC. The investigation revealed that GERRMAIOUD CHAPE solicited and obtained investment funds from victims by representing false ownership interests in properties he did not own. He supported his claims by providing fraudulent mortgage documents to his victims. The investigation showed that GERRMAIOUD CHAPE maintained control over the victim’s funds, and their losses are approximately $525,000.00. On May…

On May 17, 2023, during a narcotics investigation, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotic Task Force conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle as it traveled through Bergen County, NJ. The investigation revealed that the driver, Luis Hernandez-Perez and the passenger, Jose Perez-Perez, were transporting $155,000.00 of U. S. currency using a sophisticated, electronically operated hidden compartment in the vehicle.
