For Immediate Release: October 6, 2023 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of WILLIAM CLARK (DOB: 06/11/1985; single; electrician) of 64 Alana Drive, Hawthorne, NJ, on a charge of vehicular homicide. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Fair Lawn Police Department under the direction of Chief Glen Cauwels. On Thursday, October 5, 2023, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the Fair Lawn Police Department received a 911 call reporting a motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle on Wagaraw Road, near the intersection of Maple Avenue and River Road. Responding Officers determined that a 2013 GMC Sierra pickup truck operated by WILLIAM CLARK was traveling south on Wagaraw Road when it crossed over the double yellow line into the northbound lane striking a motorcycle traveling south on Wagaraw Road. For Immediate Release: October 4, 2023 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of CHARLES J. VINCENT (DOB: 7/29/1961; married; financial controller) of 30 Brandywine Place, Oakland, NJ on charges of money laundering, theft, and theft by deception. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love. In March 2023, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Financial Crimes Unit received information regarding suspected employee embezzlement at a Bergen County-based business. The investigation revealed that CHARLES “CHUCK” VINCENT used his position as financial controller to divert approximately one million dollars belonging to his employer to his personal control. The theft occurred over an extended period and employed several deliberate methods of diversion. These included large unauthorized payments to himself disguised as bonuses, as well as payments from company accounts to personal debt obligations. On October 3,…

For Immediate Release: October 4, 2023 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced that on September 29, 2023, ALEJANDRO VELASQUEZ-MARTINEZ of Morristown, NJ was sentenced to 40 years in New Jersey State Prison after being convicted of aggravated sexual assault on a minor. On May 12, 2023, following a four-day jury trial before the Honorable Nina Remson, J.S.C., in Bergen County Superior Court, ALEJANDRO VELASQUEZ-MARTINEZ was convicted of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child. Evidence presented at trial established that on the morning of August 19, 2019, VELASQUEZ-MARTINEZ committed aggravated sexual assault on a minor under 13 years of age while he was doing tile repairs in her family’s home in Demarest, NJ. On September 29, 2023, Judge Remson sentenced VELASQUEZ-MARTINEZ to 40 years in New Jersey State Prison, subject to the Jessica Lunsford Act and the No Early Release Act. The State was represented…

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announces the following information: The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Englewood Police Department are investigating a homicide that occurred on Saturday, September 30, 2023. At approximately 5:55 a.m., the Englewood Police Department responded to a 911 call from 6 Mevan Avenue reporting a shooting within the residence. Responding officers found 35-year-old Jason Hidalgo of Bronx, New York, inside the residence deceased from multiple gunshot wounds. The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Englewood Police Department under the direction of Chief Thomas Greeley. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available, but the shooting appears to be an isolated incident.
