For Immediate Release: December 13, 2023 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of a Bergen County JUVENILE on a charge of assault by auto. The arrest is the result of a joint investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Closter Police Department under the direction of Chief John McTigue. On Friday, December 1, 2023, at approximately 6:23 p.m., the Closter Police Department received a 911 call reporting a motor vehicle accident involving a Tesla Model X in the area of Durie Avenue in Closter, NJ. Responding officers found that the Tesla had run off the road and struck a tree. The vehicle was operated by a juvenile and contained four additional juvenile passengers. The four passengers in the vehicle were transported to area hospitals, and three of the passengers suffered serious bodily injuries. An investigation by the Bergen County…

For Immediate Release: December 10, 2023 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of DAVID ALLEN HAGAL (DOB: 03/14/1963; unemployed) of 552 Haddon Place, Franklin Lakes, NJ, on charges of murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Franklin Lakes Police Department under the direction of Officer in Charge Captain Mark McCombs. On Sunday, December 10, 2023, at approximately 7:33 a.m., the Franklin Lakes Police Department was notified of a deceased individual located within 552 Haddon Place. Officers from the Franklin Lakes Police Department responded to the residence and confirmed that the victim, 87-year-old George J. Hagal, was deceased. Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announces the following information: The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Franklin Lakes Police Department are investigating a homicide that occurred at 552 Haddon Place in Franklin Lakes, NJ on Sunday, December 10, 2023. At approximately 7:39 a.m., Franklin Lakes Police responded to the residence and found the victim deceased. The decedent’s name is currently being withheld pending notification of next of kin.  The investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Franklin Lakes Police Department under the direction of Officer in Charge Captain Mark McCombs. For Immediate Release: December 5, 2023 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of JORGE E. MENDEZ (DOB: 1/30/1967; married; product inspector) of 157 Ray Street, 2nd Floor, Garfield, NJ on charges of production and possession of child sexual abuse material. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love. On Tuesday, December 5, 2023, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at the residence of JORGE E. MENDEZ during the course of an Internet child sexual abuse material investigation. The investigation revealed that MENDEZ used the Internet to view, download and possess more than 1700 items depicting nude and/or sexually explicit pubescent and prepubescent children. In addition, MENDEZ used a hidden camera to record a child in their living area for the purpose of MENDEZ’s sexual gratification. As…

JONES (DOB: 3/23/2002; single; afterschool aide) of Bloomingdale, NJ on charges of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault by sexual contact, and endangering the welfare of a child. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Englewood Police Department under the direction of Chief Thomas Greeley. On Friday, December 1, 2023, the Englewood Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Englewood Police Department revealed that JOHNATHAN P. Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announces the following information: The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Closter Police Department are investigating a single vehicle crash involving a Tesla Model X with five occupants that occurred on Durie Avenue in Closter, NJ on Friday, December 1, 2023, at approximately 6:23 p.m. The four passengers in the vehicle were transported to area hospitals, and one of the passengers sustained serious bodily injuries.  The investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Closter Police Department under the direction of Chief John McTigue. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Waldwick Police Department under the direction of Chief Mark Messner. On Wednesday, November 29, 2023, the Waldwick Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Waldwick Police Department revealed that RYAN MALILLO sexually assaulted a child between the ages of 13 and 16 in Waldwick, NJ.
