For Immediate Release: April 29, 2024 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 40-year-old CHRISTOPHER J. PEREZ of Cliffside Park, NJ on charges of narcotics possession and failure to report a fire. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Cliffside Park Police Department under the direction of Chief Marc Marano. On Sunday, April 28, 2024, at approximately 10:35 a.m., the Cliffside Park Police Department and Fire Department responded to a fire that occurred at 238 Palisade Avenue, Apartment 8, in Cliffside Park. Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announces the following information: The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad and the Ridgewood Police Department are investigating an armed robbery that occurred in the parking lot of 175 Franklin Avenue in Ridgewood, NJ on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at approximately 8:40 pm. An investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Ridgewood Police Department under the direction of Chief Forest Lyons. No other information is available at this time while the investigation is underway, but more details will be released when possible.

For Immediate Release: April 25, 2024 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the conviction of DANIEL ROCHAT, 48, formerly of Wood-Ridge, NJ, for the murder of a Bergen County woman on September 14, 2012. On April 24, 2024, after a fifteen-day trial before the Honorable Christopher Kazlau, J.S.C. in Bergen County Superior Court, DANIEL ROCHAT was convicted of first-degree murder, aggravated arson, felony murder, unlawful desecration of human remains, hindering apprehension by providing false statements to the police, hindering apprehension by concealing and/or destroying evidence, and false swearing in connection with the death of Barbara Vernieri in East Rutherford, NJ. Sentencing is scheduled for June 14, 2024. On September 14, 2012, DANIEL ROCHAT entered the victim’s home, beat the victim about the head and face, than set her body on fire while she was still alive. ROCHAT destroyed evidence at the scene and took the victim’s cell phone.

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announces the following information: The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad and the Maywood Police Department are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a jewelry store, located at 42 West Pleasant Avenue in Maywood, NJ. At approximately 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, in response to a 911 call, the Maywood Police Department, along with mutual aid from the Paramus and Rochelle Park Police Departments, responded to 42 West Pleasant Avenue. Shortly thereafter, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office detectives responded to the scene. An investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Maywood Police Department under the direction of Chief Terence Kenny.
