MCDERMOTT, with recent addresses in Tobyhanna, PA and East Moriches, NY, on charges of attempted aggravated arson, attempted arson, and creating a risk of widespread injury or damage. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Jeff Angermeyer, and the East Rutherford Police Department, under the direction of Chief Dennis Rivelli. On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at approximately 10:35 a.m., the East Rutherford Police Department responded to reports of unusual activity at the Residence Inn. Upon arrival, hotel staff advised responding officers that they located burning clothes in a pot on a stove in one of the guestrooms. For Immediate Release: February 25, 2026 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the capture of 26-year-old CRISTIAN RICARDO VERA CASTILLO of Brooklyn, NY, a fugitive sought by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and Maywood Police Department in relation to an armed robbery in Maywood, NJ in 2024. This latest development is the result of an extensive investigation that has spanned a total of 22 months by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Jeff Angermeyer, and the Maywood Police Department, under the direction of Chief Terence Kenny. As previously reported on November 1, 2024, and again on November 26, 2025, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests of five men: BEIKER A. AGUILERA AREYAN, DANIEL A. ALPAR of New Milford, NJ on the charges of producing child sexual abuse material, possession of child sexual abuse material, obscenity to a minor, impairing or debauching the morals of a child, and lewdness. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jeff Angermeyer. On Friday, February 20, 2026, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit conducted a search warrant at the residence of MARKOS C. ALPAR during the course of a months-long online child endangerment and child sexual abuse material investigation. For Immediate Release: February 18, 2026 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 45-year-old ROCKY L. LABARBERA of Dumont, NJ on charges of possession with the intent to distribute controlled dangerous substances and money laundering. The arrest is a result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Jeff Angermeyer, and the United States Postal Inspection Service, under the direction of Inspector in Charge of the Philadelphia Division Christopher Nielsen. During an ongoing narcotics investigation, the United States Postal Inspection Service intercepted approximately two ounces of suspected cocaine and one ounce of suspected ketamine, which are controlled dangerous substances. The packages were sent from California and intended to be delivered to a private residence in Dumont, NJ.
