For Immediate Release: February 5, 2026 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 32-year-old CORY J. HAVENS of VAUXHALL, NJ for false swearing under oath. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jeff Angermeyer. On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Confidential Investigations Unit was conducting an administrative investigation that was referred to the Prosecutor’s Office by the Palisades Park Police Department. During the course of the investigation, CORY J. HAVENS, a Palisades Park Police Officer, provided false statements to detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office while under oath. As a result of the investigation, on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, CORY J. HAVENS was arrested in Hackensack, NJ and charged with fourth-degree false swearing, N.J.S.A. 2C:28-2a. HAVENS was released pending a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, NJ.

LEON of Fairview, NJ on charges of aggravated sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Jeff Angermeyer, and the Fairview Police Department, under the direction of Chief Vincent Belucci. On Monday, February 2, 2026, the Fairview Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding alleged sexual assaults of a juvenile that had occurred in the past. The investigation revealed that CARLOS M. LEON sexually assaulted and endangered a juvenile in Fairview, NJ on more than one occasion, between November 2024 and January 2026. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Jeff Angermeyer, and the Wallington Police Department, under the direction of Chief Ireneusz Kluska. On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, the Wallington Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Wallington Police Department revealed that on April 30, 2025, ERICKSON LEDESMA lured a juvenile into his vehicle for the purpose of committing a criminal offense against the child. SMITH of Westfield, NJ on charges of aggravated sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual contact. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Jeff Angermeyer, and the Rochelle Park Police Department, under the direction of Chief Dean Pinto. On Sunday, January 18, 2026, the Rochelle Park Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding an alleged sexual assault. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Rochelle Park Police Department revealed that MICHAEL W. SMITH sexually assaulted an adult victim in Rochelle Park, NJ. As a result of the investigation, on Thursday, January 29, 2026, MICHAEL W. SMITH was arrested in Westfield, NJ and charged with two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, N.J.S.A.
For Immediate Release: February 3, 2026 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 34-year-old JORLYN PAULINO of New York, NY, for hindering a homicide investigation, which occurred in 2023 in Englewood, NJ. This latest arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Jeff Angermeyer, and the Englewood Police Department, under the direction of Chief Thomas Greeley. As previously reported, on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at approximately 5:55 a.m., the Englewood Police Department responded to a shooting at a private residence on Mevan Avenue in Englewood, NJ. Upon arrival, responding officers located a 25-year-old male, later identified as Jason Hidalgo, with multiple gunshot wounds.
