CASTANEDA of Lyndhurst, NJ on charges of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Jeff Angermeyer, and the Lyndhurst Police Department, under the direction of Chief Michael Carrino. On Friday, May 15, 2026, the New York City Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile that occurred in Lyndhurst, NJ. A subsequent investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Lyndhurst Police Department revealed that JOSE E. CASTANEDA engaged in sexual conduct in 2025 with a juvenile in Lyndhurst. For Immediate Release: May 27, 2026 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 34-year-old OLUWATOBI “TOBI” A. BAMISILE of Hackensack, NJ on charges of endangering the welfare of a child and possession of fentanyl. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Jeff Angermeyer, and the Hackensack Police Department, under the direction of Chief Michael Antista. On Sunday, May 24, 2026, at approximately 8:05 p.m., the Hackensack Police Department and the Hackensack Fire Department responded to a private residence for a medical emergency involving a child. First responders arrived and discovered the child victim who was unresponsive. They initiated life-saving measures, including the administration of naloxone, a medication used to reverse or reduce the effects of opioids. HAMMOND of Rochester, NY on charges of arson, criminal mischief, and contempt of court. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Jeff Angermeyer, and the Wallington Police Department, under the direction of Chief Ireneusz “Eric” Kluska. On Monday, May 25, 2026, at approximately 7:44 p.m., the Wallington Police Department and the Wallington Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire in the area of Lincoln Place in Wallington, NJ. Upon arrival, first responders discovered a 2004 Ford Mustang fully engulfed in flames and extinguished the fire. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jeff Angermeyer. On Sunday, May 17, 2026, the Elmwood Park Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding an alleged sexual assault. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office revealed that NICHOLAS FEDORISIN engaged in sexual conduct with a juvenile in Elmwood Park, NJ on one or more occasions between 2021 and 2025. For Immediate Release: May 21, 2026 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 64-year-old MIGUEL MEJIA of Teaneck, NJ on charges of aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child, child abuse, and refusal to submit to DNA collection. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Jeff Angermeyer, and the Teaneck Police Department, under the direction of Chief Andrew McGurr. On Tuesday, May 19, 2026, the Teaneck Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the physical assault of a juvenile. A joint investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Teaneck Police Department revealed that MIGUEL MEJIA assaulted and endangered a juvenile in Teaneck, NJ. When MEJIA was taken into custody by detectives, he refused to provide a DNA sample, although one was required by law.

This arrest was the result of a more than two-year investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Jeff Angermeyer, and the Garfield Police Department, under the direction of Chief Joseph Delaney IV. As previously reported, on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at approximately 12:44 a.m., the Garfield Police Department responded to a stabbing on Monroe Street in Garfield, NJ. Upon arrival, responding officers located a 31-year-old male, later identified as Richard Franceschi of Hawthorne, NJ, with multiple stab wounds to his chest.
