Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announces the following information: The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad and the Maywood Police Department are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a jewelry store, located at 42 West Pleasant Avenue in Maywood, NJ. At approximately 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, in response to a 911 call, the Maywood Police Department, along with mutual aid from the Paramus and Rochelle Park Police Departments, responded to 42 West Pleasant Avenue. Shortly thereafter, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office detectives responded to the scene. An investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Maywood Police Department under the direction of Chief Terence Kenny. No other information is available at this time, but more details will be released when possible.

For Immediate Release: April 19, 2024 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests of TYMEAR HASKINS, 23, of Wallington, NJ and DEVON DELGADO, 24, of Lodi, NJ on charges related to armed robberies in Wallington, NJ and Passaic, NJ. The arrests are the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck, the Wallington Police Department under the direction of Chief Shawn Kudlacik, and the Passaic Police Department under the direction of Chief Luis Guzman. For Immediate Release: April 17, 2024 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 35-year-old DONATO AVOLIO, formerly of Midland Park, NJ, on a sexual assault charge. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Wyckoff Police Department under the direction of Chief David Murphy. On Wednesday, March 27, 2024, the Wyckoff Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile that occurred in the past. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office revealed that DONATO AVOLIO sexually assaulted a juvenile under the age of 13 in Wyckoff, NJ. As a result of the investigation, on Thursday, March 28, 2024, DONATO AVOLIO was charged with second-degree sexual assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2b. SANTANA TORRES, a/k/a “Roberto Daniel Clementi Giron,” 22, of Bronx, NY on charges of armed robbery and other offenses. The arrest is the continuation of a months-long investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck. As previously announced, officers from the Edgewater Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery on River Road on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at approximately 3:11 p.m. Officers determined that two suspects approached the victim at a shopping center, brandished a handgun, and stole the victim’s watch while a lookout stood by. The suspects fled the area in separate getaway vehicles that were operated by other men who were waiting nearby. Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announces the following information: The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit – Fatal Accident Investigation Task Force and the Ridgefield Police Department are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian that occurred at the intersection of Shaler Boulevard and Edgewater Avenue in Ridgefield, NJ on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at approximately 7:37 p.m.  The pedestrian, a 15-year-old female from Ridgefield, was pronounced deceased at Hackensack University Medical Center.  This ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Ridgefield Police Department under the direction of Chief Thomas Gallagher.  No other information is available at this time, but more details will be released when possible.

The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Saddle Brook Police Department under the direction of Officer-in-Charge Captain John A. Zotollo. On Thursday, April 11, 2024, the Saddle Brook Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding alleged lewd acts that were observed by multiple juveniles in Saddle Brook, NJ. For Immediate Release: April 5, 2024 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the conviction of AUGUSTO PEREZ of North Bergen, NJ in connection with the stabbing death of Omar Cruz on February 16, 2021. On April 5, 2024, after a six-week trial before the Honorable Susan J. Steele, J.S.C. in Bergen County Superior Court, AUGUSTO PEREZ was convicted of aggravated manslaughter and hindering apprehension. On February 16, 2021, AUGUSTO PEREZ stabbed Omar Cruz to death behind the Ulta Beauty store in the Bergen Town Center mall in Maywood, NJ. An investigation led to his arrest at his North Bergen home on February 17, 2021.
