For Immediate Release: April 1, 2025 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests of 30-year-old EDGAR HOLGUIN-REYES and 27-year-old YAKAYRA REYES, both of Reading, PA, for possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl pills. The arrests were the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck. During the course of a narcotics investigation, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotic Task Force identified a vehicle that was involved with the transport and distribution of drugs. On Sunday, March 30, 2025, at approximately 6:35 p.m., with assistance from the Mahwah Police Department, the suspect vehicle was located and pulled over on I-287 in Mahwah, NJ. The arrest is the result of a months-long investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck. In May 2024, the Lodi Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Financial Crimes Unit regarding an alleged theft scheme. A lengthy investigation was initiated by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office that revealed BHAVNA ANAND assumed the identity of at least three acquaintances on multiple occasions between January 2017 and December 2024. During that time, ANAND stole approximately $787,556 by using their personal identifying information to gain access to personal bank accounts, investment accounts, and life insurance accounts, and then transferred funds from the victims’ accounts to accounts she controlled. On Wednesday, March 19, 2025, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit identified BRAYAN ESCOBAR during the course of an Internet child sexual abuse material investigation. The investigation revealed that ESCOBAR used the Internet to view, download, possess, and distribute items depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children.
