Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announces the following information: The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Bergen County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the contents of a bag that was discovered in the lake at Overpeck County Park, located at 40 Fort Lee Road in Leonia. On Wednesday, July 6, 2022, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report that an individual had pulled from the water a bag containing what appeared to be a human placenta and fetal membranes. A determination of the exact contents of the bag is pending a final report from the Bergen County Medical Examiner’s Office. An investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office under the direction of Sheriff Anthony Cureton. No other information is available at this time.

For Immediate Release:June 29, 2022Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of FLAMOR DJOKOVIC (DOB: 1/02/1985; married; restaurant owner) of 57316 Hawthorne Drive, Washington Township, Michigan on a drug offense. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love. On June 28, 2022, an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotic Task Force revealed that FLAMOR DJOKOVIC was transporting bulk shipments of marijuana through Bergen County. During this investigation, a search was conducted on his vehicle in Lodi, NJ that revealed approximately sixty-eight packages of marijuana with a total weight of 68 pounds. FLAMOR DJOKOVIC was arrested at the scene of the search. FLAMOR DJOKOVIC was charged with one count of first-degree possession of marijuana over 25 lbs. with the intent to distribute, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(10)a. PEREZ-PEREZ (DOB: 6/28/1995; single; construction worker) of Fairview, NJ on sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child and assault charges. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Fairview Police Department under the direction of Chief Martin Kahn. On Monday, June 27, 2022, the Fairview Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assault of a child. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Fairview Police Department revealed that CARLOS E. Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella releases the following information: The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Teaneck Police Department are investigating a fatal accident that occurred at the intersection of Windsor Road and Briarcliffe Road in Teaneck on Saturday, June 25, 2022. Just before 2:00 p.m., the Teaneck Police Department received a 911 call regarding a motor vehicle collision at that intersection involving two vehicles. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Albert Schnellbacker, a 92-year-old male, unconscious and not breathing in one of the vehicles. Mr. Schnellbacker was transported to Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck where he was pronounced deceased. The driver of the other vehicle and a passenger were transported to an area hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Prosecutor Mark Musella announces the following information: The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Edgewater Police Department are investigating a shooting that occurred at 14 The Promenade, Edgewater, NJ on Wednesday, June 22, 2022. At approximately 12:08 a.m. on June 22, the Edgewater Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at that address. Responding officers found a 22-year-old victim with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers also responded to the Exxon Station located at 478 River Road, Edgewater, where they located another 22-year-old victim with a gunshot wound. Both victims were transported to an area hospital where they are being treated.     An investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Edgewater Police Department under the direction of Chief Donald Martin. For Immediate Release:June 20, 2022Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of MARVIN TAVERAS-TAVERAS (DOB: 9/30/1991; single; rideshare driver) of 2629 North 8th Street, Philadelphia, PA on a charge of possession with the intent to distribute heroin. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love. On June 16, 2022, an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotic Task Force revealed that MARVIN TAVERAS-TAVERAS was transporting bulk amounts of suspected narcotics through Bergen County. During this investigation, a search was conducted on the defendant’s vehicle in Ridgefield Park, NJ. The search revealed approximately 93 “bricks” or 4,650 bags of suspected heroin. TAVERAS-TAVERAS was arrested at the scene of the search. MARVIN TAVERAS-TAVERAS was charged with second-degree possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, namely heroin, in a quantity greater than ½ ounce…

Prosecutor Mark Musella announces the following information:  Just after 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2022, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an unconscious male along the shoulder of Route 4 West near South Dean Street in Englewood, NJ. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the man was deceased and had injuries consistent with having been struck by a vehicle. The victim has not yet been positively identified.   An investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office under the direction of Sheriff Anthony Cureton.
