For Immediate Release: March 14, 2022 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of HONGWEI ZHENG (DOB: 12/10/1983; married; liquor store cashier) of 4507 Utopia Parkway, Flushing, New York on a money laundering offense. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love. On March 10, 2022, an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force revealed that HONGWEI ZHENG was transporting bulk shipments of United States currency believed to be derived from criminal activity through Bergen County. During this investigation, a search was conducted on a silver-colored Chevy Suburban in Fort Lee, NJ. The search revealed $158,900.00 in currency concealed in different locations in the vehicle. ZHENG was arrested at the scene of the search. HONGWEI ZHENG was charged with second-degree money laundering, N.J.S.A. 2C:21-25a. He was released on his own recognizance pending…

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announces the following information: The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Lodi Police Department are investigating a homicide that occurred at 9 Victor Street in Lodi on Tuesday, March 8, 2022.  At 4:31 p.m., the Lodi Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting that shots had been fired at that address.  Responding officers found the 26-year-old victim, John Anthony DeLeon of Paterson, NJ, with multiple gunshot wounds.   He was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. An investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Lodi Police Department under the direction of Chief Donald Scorzetti.  No further information will be released at this time.

RODRIGUEZ (DOB: 11/25/1980; divorced; mechanic) of 100 Second Street, Apartment LL5, Hackensack, NJ on child pornography charges. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love. On Thursday, February 17, 2022, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at the residence of JUAN C. RODRIGUEZ during the course of a months-long Internet child pornography investigation. The investigation revealed that RODRIGUEZ used the Internet to view, download, and possess approximately 5,515 digital files depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent children. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love. On February 17, 2022, an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force revealed that FERNANDA YOUNG was transporting bulk shipments of marijuana through Bergen County. During this investigation, a search was conducted on a U-Haul rental truck in Carlstadt, NJ. The search revealed packages of marijuana with a total weight of 236 pounds, along with crystal methamphetamine and fentanyl. YOUNG was arrested at the scene of the search. For Immediate Release: February 16, 2022 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced today the arrest of BIRMANIA “NANCY” RINCON (DOB: 3/15/1959; single; unemployed), formerly of 275 Farrant Terrace, Teaneck, NJ, on charges relating to a human trafficking and prostitution ring. In November 2020, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad initiated an investigation, dubbed “Operation Hope in Darkness”, into a human trafficking, prostitution, and money laundering organization operating throughout Bergen County, in northern New Jersey, and in New York. The investigation revealed that several individuals were trafficking women throughout Bergen, Hudson, Middlesex, and Passaic Counties, and in Rockland County and Queens County, New York for the purpose of engaging in commercial sex acts. As a result of the investigation, BIRMANIA RINCON was identified as one of the primary leaders of a criminal enterprise engaged in money laundering and prostitution offenses since at least 2015.
