Press Releases << BRYAN WOOD OF FORT LEE, NJ CHARGED WITH STRICT LIABILITY VEHICULAR HOMICIDE

Sep 24

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced that BRYAN WOOD (DOB: 07/09/1986; single; self-employed) of 1603 Maple Street, Fort Lee, NJ, was charged with strict liability vehicular homicide.  The charge is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office under the direction of Sheriff Anthony Cureton.

On Saturday, May 22, 2021, at approximately 3:40 a.m., the Lodi Police Department and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office were notified that a motor vehicle had struck a person in the area of 240 Route 17 South in Lodi.  The victim, later identified as 38-year-old Marko Guberovic of Fair Lawn, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The Sheriff’s Office contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit, and the ensuing investigation revealed that a 2020 BMW M8 operated by BRYAN WOOD struck Guberovic, resulting in his death.  Laboratory tests determined that WOOD was intoxicated at the time his vehicle struck the victim.

On Wednesday, September 21, 2021, Bryan Wood was charged with one count of third-degree strict liability vehicular homicide, N.J.S.A. 2C:11-5.3a.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would also like to thank the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office for its assistance in this investigation.
