“Providing Clarification for NJ Attorney General Directive 2025-02” This directive provides several specific clarifications to enhance the provisions set forth in NJ Attorney General Directive 2025-02, to ensure consistency across all Bergen County agencies during an active shooter incident.

“Animal Cruelty Investigations and Amendment to 2018 Guidance” This directive is being issued to clarify and amend the protocols surrounding the enforcement of animal cruelty laws in Bergen County, NJ.

“Temporary Seizure of Firearms For Safekeeping During Medical Emergency” This directive establishes a standardized procedure for the temporary seizure and safekeeping of firearms from a patient in a public place when they are transported to a health care facility or hospital.

“Barricaded Individuals” This directive provides additional direction regarding the Use of Force Policy pertaining to barricaded individuals. The purpose of the Policy is to maximize the chances of resolving barricaded individual incidents without death or serious bodily injury to anyone.

“Emergent Warrantless Pings in Criminal Investigations” This directive provides protocols for requesting pings of a wireless device during a criminal investigation where the target is a device utilized by a criminal suspect.

“Mandating All Police Departments Have a Chief of Police or a named Officer in Charge” This directive mandates that all Bergen County police departments have a Chief of Police or a named Officer-In-Charge, who shall be recognized as the highest sworn law enforcement executive for that department.

“Revised Substance Use Disorder Initiatives” This directive supplements the requirements and guidelines of our law enforcement substance use disorder response when assisting individuals along a broader spectrum of law enforcement encounters.

“Guidance for Using Axon Fleet 3 ALPR Technology (In Light of Previous BCPO Directive No. 2023-1, AG 2022-12)” This directive provides guidance to those agencies that will elect to use the Axon platform for ALPR integration either now or in the future.
