For Immediate Release: February 27, 2024 Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of MARTIN S. FISHMAN (DOB: 02/24/1951; married; unemployed) of 954 Pines Terrace, Franklin Lakes, NJ on charges of misappropriating clients’ money, identity theft, and forgery. FISHMAN’S license to practice law is suspended in New Jersey and revoked in New York. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Acting Chief Matthew Finck. Starting in May 2023, four victims reported to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Financial Crimes Unit that, as early as 2014, they had been involved in real estate transactions with MARTIN S. FISHMAN, who had not repaid his loans, fraudulently drafted mortgage notes, dispersed bounced checks for real estate closings, misapplied funds intended for an attorney trust account, and then ceased communication with those attempting to recoup their money. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Acting Chief Matthew Finck and the Northvale Police Department under the direction of Chief Howard Ostrow. On Monday, February 26, 2024 the Northvale Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile that had occurred in the past. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Acting Chief of Detectives Matthew Finck and the Fort Lee Police Department under the direction of Chief Matthew Hintze. On Wednesday, January 3, 2024, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit was contacted by the Hopatcong (NJ) Police Department regarding alleged sexual conduct between a teacher and a student in Westwood, NJ. The investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Acting Chief Matthew Finck and the Teaneck Police Department under the direction of Chief Andrew McGurr. As previously reported, the Teaneck Police Department received a 911 call on Monday, February 19, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m., reporting a fire at 850 Palisade Avenue in Teaneck. The Teaneck Police Department responded to the scene along with the Teaneck Fire Department and mutual aid from the Englewood and Hackensack Fire Departments. Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announces the following information: The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Teaneck Police Department are investigating a fire that occurred at 850 Palisade Avenue, Teaneck, NJ on Monday, February 19, 2024. At approximately 12:30 a.m., on February 19, 2024, the Teaneck Police Department received a report of a fire at 850 Palisade Avenue in Teaneck. Teaneck Police officers responded along with the Teaneck Fire Department and the Hackensack Fire Department. During fire suppression, first responders located multiple residents who were trapped in the basement of the residence.  All victims were transported to Hackensack University Medical Center.   An investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Acting Chief Matthew Finck and the Teaneck Police Department under the direction of Andrew McGurr.
