Directive 2017-5
Like many counties across the State of New Jersey, Bergen County has seen an increase in heroin and opioid-related overdoses and deaths over the last several years. Indeed, the number of such deaths would have been far greater if it were not for Naloxone (Narcan), which has been available to county law enforcement since 2014 and has been successful in reversing the effects of heroin and opioid overdoses in a significant number of cases. (This Directive has been superseded by Bergen County Prosecutor’s Law Enforcement Directive No. 2024-1.)
