Directive 2018-3
The deployment of small-unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS), commonly referred to as “drones,” has become more commonplace, especially by law enforcement. These systems offer strategic and tactical insight into on-going critical events that may assist in reducing injuries or death to those involved, and provide for more efficient handling of a variety of situations. However, as with any technology, it is imperative that agencies employing such systems have a formalized protocol for the proper use and prevention of misuse. This Directive provides that protocol.
