This directive establishes procedures for all Bergen County law enforcement agencies to follow regarding the Attorney General’s Directive 2010-5 and the use of the County’s Automated License Plate Reader Server.
This directive cites the information that must be collected and reported to the County Prosecutor’s Office by law enforcement agencies regarding the civil forfeiture of assets seized during criminal investigations in order to provide more public transparency.
This Directive is issued to address disparities in the way Bergen County police agencies conduct Internal Affairs investigations and address the uneven level of discipline imposed on police officers among the various agencies. Attached to this Directive is Attorney General Directive 2020-5 that requires public disclosure of the identities of officers who commit serious disciplinary violations.
No Bergen County law enforcement agency shall advise members of the public to identify as COVID-19 positive or quarantined when seeking police assistance, nor to provide any public notice of COVID-19 positive/quarantined status.
