Press Releases << ENGLEWOOD, NJ MAN CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED SEXUAL ASSAULT AND ENDANGERING THE WELFARE OF A CHILD

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of JOSEPH HICKS (DOB: 9/03/1993; single; security officer) of Englewood, NJ on charges of aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.  The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Englewood Police Department under the direction of Chief Thomas Greeley.

On Tuesday, November 14, 2023, the Englewood Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile.  An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Englewood Police Department revealed that JOSEPH HICKS sexually assaulted a child between the ages of 13 and 16 years old in Englewood, NJ while in a supervisory role.

As a result of the investigation, on Monday, November 20, 2023, JOSEPH HICKS was arrested in Paramus, NJ and charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(2)(b); and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1).  HICKS was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.  He would like to thank the Englewood Police Department for its assistance in this investigation.
