ENGLEWOOD, NJ MAN CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED SEXUAL ASSAULT, SEXUAL ASSAULT AND ENDANGERING THE WELFARE OF A CHILD

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of WILLIAM HERNANDEZ (DOB: 2/16/1991; single; cashier) of Englewood, NJ on aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child charges. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Englewood Police Department under the direction of Chief Thomas Greeley.
On Tuesday. January 24, 2023, the Englewood Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assault of a child. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Englewood Police Department revealed that WILLIAM HERNANDEZ sexually assaulted two children, who were between the ages of 7 -9 years old, on multiple occasions in Englewood, NJ.
As a result of the investigation, on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, WILLIAM HERNANDEZ was arrested in Paramus, NJ and charged with three counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1); two counts of second-degree sexual assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2b; and two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a. HERNANDEZ was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Englewood Police Department for their assistance.
