Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of CARLOS QUINTERO-LOPERA (DOB: 8/22/1981, married; laborer) of Englewood, NJ on charges of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault by contact, and endangering the welfare of a child. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Englewood Police Department under the direction of Chief Tom Greeley.

On Wednesday, February 8, 2023, the Englewood Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assault of a child. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Englewood Police Department revealed that CARLOS QUINTERO-LOPERA sexually assaulted the child, who was between the ages of 11 – 16 years old, in Englewood, NJ on more than one occasion.

As a result of the investigation, on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, CARLOS QUINTERO-LOPERA was arrested in Paramus, NJ and charged with 3 counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(2)c; 2 counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(1); 2 counts of second-degree sexual assault by contact, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2b; and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(a). QUINTERO-LOPERA was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He would like to thank the Englewood Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
