FORT LEE, NJ MAN CHARGED WITH ENDANGERING THE WELFARE OF A CHILD AND AGGRAVATED CRIMINAL SEXUAL CONTACT

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of NELSON REYES, JR. (DOB: 12/30/1984; married; food service industry) of Fort Lee, NJ, on charges of endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated criminal sexual contact. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Fort Lee Police Department under the direction of Chief Matthew J. Hintze.
On Sunday, June 11, 2023, the Fort Lee Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assault of a child. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Fort Lee Police Department revealed that NELSON REYES, JR. sexually assaulted a child who was between the ages of 13 and 16 in Fort Lee, NJ.
As a result of the investigation, on Friday, June 30, 2023, NELSON REYES, JR. was arrested in Fort lee, NJ and charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a; and third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-3a. REYES, JR. was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Fort Lee Police Department for its assistance in this investigation.
