Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests of ZAKEE MURPHY (DOB: 8/12/1990; single; unemployed) and RYENE PERRY (DOB: 11/8/1988; single; aquatic tank maintenance professional), both of 99 Grand Street, Garfield, NJ on drug offenses. The arrests are the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.

An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotic Task Force revealed that ZAKEE MURPHY was using his residence to stash illegal drugs and proceeds of drug sales. On Friday, December 2, 2022, members of the Narcotic Task Force, Bergen County Regional SWAT Team, and Garfield Police Department executed a search warrant at 99 Grant Street and ZAKEE MURPHY’s vehicle, during which they recovered approximately 1,500 bags of suspected heroin, several pounds of marijuana, cocaine, Xanax bars, Oxycodone and Adderall pills, all of which were possessed for sale. Police also seized over $8,000.00 in drug sale proceeds. RYENE PERRY was arrested in the residence during the execution of the search warrant, while ZAKEE MURPHY was arrested later in the day in Garfield.

ZAKEE MURPHY was charged with second-degree possession with intent to distribute heroin, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(2); third-degree possession with intent to distribute cocaine, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(3); third-degree possession with intent to distribute heroin, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(3); third-degree possession with intent to distribute marijuana, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b11(b); third-degree possession with intent to distribute alprazolam (Xanax), N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(13); third-degree possession with intent to distribute Adderall, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(13); third-degree possession with intent to distribute Oxycodone, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(5); and third-degree possession with intent to distribute controlled dangerous substances within 1,000 feet of a school, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7. He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.

RYENE PERRY was charged with second-degree possession with intent to distribute heroin, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(2); third-degree possession with intent to distribute cocaine, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(3); third-degree possession with intent to distribute marijuana, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b11(b); third-degree possession with intent to distribute alprazolam (Xanax), N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(13); third-degree possession with intent to distribute Adderall, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(13); third-degree possession with intent to distribute Oxycodone, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(5); and third-degree possession with intent to distribute controlled dangerous substances within 1,000 feet of a school, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7. He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Mark Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He would also like to thank the Garfield Police Department for its assistance with this investigation.
