During a month-long investigation by detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad and the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department, KEYWAN HUDSON and SALIK STEPHENS were identified as suspects in an armed robbery that occurred in Hasbrouck Heights on August 11, 2021.

On Monday, September 20, 2021, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, Newark Police Department, and the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department executed a search warrant at the residence of KEYWAN HUDSON in Newark.  HUDSON was subsequently arrested without incident outside his home.  STEPHENS was served with complaints at the Hudson County Jail, where he was in custody on an unrelated incident.

HUDSON and STEPHENS were each charged with one count of first-degree armed robbery, N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(1); one count of second-degree conspiracy to commit armed robbery, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2a(1); one count of second-degree possession of a weapon (handgun) for an unlawful purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4d; one count of second-degree possession of a weapon (handgun) without a permit, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(1); one count of second-degree possession of a weapon (handgun, certain persons offense), N.J.S.A. 2C:39-7b(1); one count of third-degree aggravated assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(4).  HUDSON was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.  He would also like to thank the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, Essex County Sheriff’s Department, Newark Police Department, and the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
