Press Releases << LEVITTOWN, PA MAN CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED ARSON

For Immediate Release: August 29, 2023

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of JONATHAN R. CZYZEWSKI (DOB: 4/09/1986; single; unemployed) of 193 Blue Ridge Drive, Levittown, PA, on charges of aggravated arson, arson, and criminal mischief.  The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Lodi Police Department under the direction of Chief Donald Scorzetti.

On Sunday, July 30, 2023, at approximately 4:40 a.m., the Lodi Police Department responded to a vehicle fire at 62 Route 46, which is a used car dealership called MFT Auction.  Responding officers found a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck fully engulfed in flames, and they successfully suppressed the fire.  However, prior to the fire being put out, eight other vehicles parked in the vicinity of the pickup truck were also damaged by fire.  An investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Lodi Police Department revealed that JONATHAN R. CZYZEWSKI had intentionally set the vehicle on fire.

As a result of the investigation, JONATHAN R. CZYZEWSKI was charged with second-degree aggravated arson, N.J.S.A. 2C:17-1b(2); third-degree arson, N.J.S.A. 2C:17-1b(2); and third-degree criminal mischief, N.J.S.A. 2C:17-3a(2).  CZYZEWSKI was remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility in Doylestown, PA, pending extradition to Bergen County, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would also like to thank the Lodi Police Department and the Bucks County Pennsylvania Correctional Facility for their assistance in this investigation.
