MAHWAH, NJ MAN CHARGED WITH ENDANGERING THE WELFARE OF A CHILD

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of MARTINO DESIR (DOB: 1/28/1987; married; medical assistant) of Mahwah, NJ on a charge of endangering the welfare of a child. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Acting Chief Matthew Finck and the Mahwah Police Department under the direction of Chief Timothy O’Hara.
On Monday, March 4, 2024, the Division of Child Protection and Permanency contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged abuse of a juvenile. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Mahwah Police Department revealed that MARTINO DESIR physically abused a child under the age of 13 in Mahwah, NJ.
As a result of the investigation, MARTINO DESIR was arrested in Mahwah, NJ and charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, N.J.S.A 2C:24-4a(2). DESIR was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charge is merely an accusation, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He would like to thank the Mahwah Police Department for its assistance in this investigation.
