Press Releases << OAKLAND, NJ MAN CHARGED WITH TERRORISTIC THREATS

For Immediate Release:
May 24, 2024

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of TODD V. GENTILE, 55, of 96 Truman Boulevard, Oakland, NJ, on the charge of terroristic threats. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck.
On Wednesday, April 3, 2024, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit initiated an investigation regarding an emerging pattern of social media posts threatening to shoot law enforcement officers. In the subsequent weeks, detectives traced the social media posts to TODD GENTILE.

As a result of the investigation, on Thursday, May 23, 2024, TODD GENTILE, who was already in custody at the Bergen County Jail on an unrelated matter, was charged with third-degree terroristic threats, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-3a. GENTILE remains held at the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charge is merely an accusation, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Prosecutor Musella thanks the Oakland Police Department for its assistance with the investigation.
