Press Releases << PATERSON, NJ MAN CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED SEXUAL ASSAULT AND CRIMINAL RESTRAINT

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of ANDRE WILLIAMS (DOB: 01/13/1982; single; unemployed) of Paterson, NJ, on charges of aggravated sexual assault and criminal restraint.  The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Elmwood Park Police Department under the direction of Chief Michael Foligno.

On Friday, July 8, 2022, the Elmwood Park Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding an alleged sexual assault of a woman in Elmwood Park, NJ.  An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Elmwood Park Police Department revealed that ANDRE WILLIAMS sexually assaulted the woman.

As a result of the investigation, on Thursday, April 27, 2023, an arrest warrant was issued for ANDRE WILLIAMS for first-degree aggravated sexual assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(5); and third-degree criminal restraint, N.J.S.A. 2C:13-2a.  On Friday, April 28, 2023, ANDRE WILLIAMS was arrested in Paterson, NJ.  WILLIAMS was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Elmwood Park Police Department and the Paterson Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
