PHILADELPHIA, PA MAN CHARGED WITH LEAVING THE SCENE OF A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT RESULTING IN SERIOUS BODILY INJURY AND ENDANGERING AN INJURED VICTIM
For Immediate Release:
November 7, 2023
Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of NASER ABU ALI (DOB: 07/03/2003; single; tow-truck operator) of 3531 Vista Street, Philadelphia, PA, on charges of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in serious bodily injury and endangering an injured victim. The charges are the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Ridgefield Park Police Department under the direction of Chief Joseph Rella.
On Sunday, September 24, 2023, at approximately 10:10 p.m., the Ridgefield Park Police Department responded to a report of a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian that occurred at the intersection of Ridgefield Avenue and Winant Avenue in Ridgefield Park, NJ. The pedestrian, 67-year-old Elizabeth Crum of Ridgefield Park, NJ, was transported to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ, where she was treated for serious bodily injuries sustained during the collision.
An investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Ridgefield Park Police Department revealed that a 2014 Ford Transit van operated by NASER ABU ALI struck the victim as she crossed Winant Avenue, severely injuring her, and it subsequently fled the area prior to police arrival.
As a result of the investigation, on November 6, 2023, NASER ABU ALI was arrested and charged with third-degree leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in serious bodily injury, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1.1; and third-degree endangering an injured victim, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1.2. ALI was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Ridgefield Park Police Department for its assistance in this investigation.
