The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Midland Park Police Department are investigating a fatal hit-and-run motor-vehicle accident that occurred on Godwin Avenue at the intersection of Witte Drive.  

On Friday, October 11, 2024, at approximately 7:09 p.m., the Midland Park Police Department responded to a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle on Godwin Avenue.  Upon arrival, officers determined that the involved vehicle left the scene of the collision.  The adult male pedestrian was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center with serious injuries where he was ultimately pronounced deceased.  

This investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Midland Park Police Department under the direction of Chief Michael Powderley.  No other information is available at this time, including information about the deceased, pending notification to the next of kin.
