Press Releases << PRESS ADVISORY: MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH INVESTIGATION IN ALPINE, N.J.

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announces the following information:

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Department are investigating a serious motor vehicle crash that occurred on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Alpine, N.J.  

On Friday, February 28th, at approximately 5:58 a.m., the Palisades Interstate Parkway Police responded to a motor vehicle crash involving two vehicles in the southbound direction of the Palisades Interstate Parkway, near the New York State line.  One of the occupants of an involved vehicle suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Several other occupants were transported to an area hospital for varying degrees of serious injuries.

 The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office activated the Bergen County Fatal Accident Task Force, which responded to the scene and initiated a joint investigation into the circumstances of the fatal crash.  Detours in the area of the highway are likely to remain in place while the investigation proceeds.  

This investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Department under the direction of Chief Steven Shallop.
