Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of KELVIN HERNANDEZ (DOB: 9/27/1997; married; employed as a landscaper) of 26 Fair Street, Apt. E, Hackensack, New Jersey on charges of Sexual Assault and Simple Assault. The arrest is the result of a joint investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office under the direction of Officer-in-Charge, Deputy Chief Robert ANZILOTTI, and the Hackensack Police Department under the direction of Officer-in- Charge, Captain Francesco AQUILA.
On Tuesday, October 25, 2016, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received information that Kelvin HERNANDEZ was engaging in a sexual relationship with a juvenile female. An investigation by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victim’s Unit and the Hackensack Police Department ensued.
As a result of the investigation, Kelvin HERNANDEZ was arrested on October 25, 2016, in Hackensack, New Jersey and charged with violating one count of Sexual Assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2C(4), a 2nd degree crime, and one count of Simple Assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1A(1), a disorderly persons offense. The Honorable Lisa Perez FRISCIA, J.S.C., of Bergen County, set bail at $75,000.00 with no ten percent option. As a condition of bail, Kelvin HERNANDEZ is to have no contact with the victim. Kelvin HERNANDEZ is scheduled to appear in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court for a first appearance on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 8:30 a.m.
Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Grewal states that this charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and would also like to thank the Hackensack Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
