MAFIA STREET GANG LEADER AND THREE ASSOCIATES ARRESTED IN RIDGEFIELD PARK, NEW JERSEY

Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrests of the following 4 Ridgefield Park residents on narcotics, firearm, and child endangerment charges: JEAN C. CARMONA (DOB: 10/17/1991; single; and unemployed) of 58 Grove Street, Second Floor, Ridgefield Park, New Jersey; ANTHONY SANCHEZ, JR. (DOB: 07/21/1992; single; and unemployed) of 58 Grove Street, Second Floor, Ridgefield Park, New Jersey; JOSE PLASENCIA (DOB: 11/01/1997; single; and a construction laborer) of 58 Grove Street, Second Floor, Ridgefield Park, New Jersey; and JAMES FATTORUSSO (DOB: 12/09/1986; single; and a barber) of 58 Grove Street, Second Floor, Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. These arrests are the result of a joint investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor=s Office under the direction of Officer-in-Charge, Deputy Chief Robert ANZILOTTI, the Ridgefield Park Police Department under the direction of Chief Edward ROSE, and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office under the direction of Sheriff Michael SAUDINO.

In October 2016, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received information that controlled dangerous substances were being distributed from 58 Grove Street, Second Floor, Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. Further investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Ridgefield Park Police Department revealed that CARMONA, a confirmed member of the Mafia Street Gang, and PLASENCIA were distributing controlled dangerous substances from the aforementioned residence.

On Thursday, October 27, 2016, a search warrant was executed at that residence which resulted in law enforcement personnel seizing two handguns, hollow point ammunition, .22 caliber ammunition, body armor, suspected marijuana, and drug paraphernalia including two digital scales, and numerous plastic baggies commonly used for distribution purposes. CARMONA, PLASENCIA, SANCHEZ, JR., and FATTORUSSO were all arrested at the residence and were charged as set forth below as a result of the investigation.

CARMONA was arrested and charged with one count of a Certain Person Possessing a Firearm Having Been Convicted of Aggravated Assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-7B(1), a second degree crime; one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4A, a second degree crime; one count of Possession of Body Armor, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-13, a third degree crime; and one count of Possession of Hollow Point Ammunition, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-3F, a fourth degree crime. The Honorable Louis J. Dinice, J.M.C., set bail at $75,000.00 with no ten percent option.

Jose PLASENCIA was arrested and charged with one count of Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely Marijuana, within 500 Feet of a Public Park specifically the Vogt Park, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7.1A, a second degree crime; one count of Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely Marijuana, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5A(1)/5B(11), a third degree crime; one count of Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely Marijuana, within 1000 feet of a School, specifically the Thomas Jefferson Elementary School in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7A, a third degree crime; one count of Possession of a Weapon, specifically a machete and large knife, N.J.S.A. 39-3E, a fourth degree crime; and one count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, specifically two digital scales, a glass smoking device and numerous plastic baggies commonly used for distribution purposes, N.J.S.A. 2C:36-2, a disorderly person’s offense. The Honorable Louis J. Dinice, J.M.C., set bail at $35,000.00 with no ten percent option.

Anthony SANCHEZ, Jr. was arrested and charged with one count of Possession of a Firearm while Committing a Narcotic Related Offense, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4.1A, a second degree crime. The Honorable Louis J. Dinice, J.M.C., set bail at $35,000.00 with no ten percent option.

James FATTORUSSO was arrested and charged with one count of Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely Marijuana, within 500 feet of a Public Park, specifically the Vogt Park, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7.1A, a second degree crime; one count of Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely Marijuana, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5A(1)/5B(11), a third degree crime; one count of Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely Marijuana, within 1000 feet of a School, specifically the Thomas Jefferson Elementary School in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7A, a third degree crime; and one count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, specifically two digital scales, a glass smoking device and numerous plastic baggies commonly used for distribution purposes, N.J.S.A. 2C:36-2, a disorderly person’s offense. The Honorable Louis J. Dinice, J.M.C., set bail at $25,000.00 with no ten percent option.

All four defendants are scheduled to appear in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court for a first appearance on November 16, 2016 at 8:30 a.m.

Acting Prosecutor Grewal states that the above charges are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Acting Prosecutor Grewal would also like to thank the Ridgefield Park Police Department and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this investigation.
