TO: ALL NEWS MEDIA

FROM: ACTING PROSECUTOR GURBIR S. GREWAL

DATE: NOVEMBER 4, 2016

Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the investigation of a motor vehicle accident resulting in the serious bodily injury of one adult driver. The investigation is being conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit under the direction of Officer-in-Charge, Deputy Chief Robert ANZILOTTI, the East Rutherford Police Department under the direction of Chief Lawrence MINDA and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department under the direction of Sheriff Michael SAUDINO.

On Thursday, November 03, 2016, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office was notified by the East Rutherford Police Department that a serious motor vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Rt. 120 and Ramp "T" in East Rutherford. An investigation by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Unit and the East Rutherford Police Department revealed that a 2007 International 94001 tractor trailer was travelling on Route 120 South at approximately 1:44 p.m., at which time the truck collided with a 2001 Honda Odyssey. Detectives were able to determine that the tractor trailer driver failed to stop for a red traffic signal on Route 120 south and broadsided the Honda minivan. As a result, the minivan driver suffered serious bodily injuries and was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center. At the time of this press release, the driver was listed in critical condition. No criminal charges have been filed at this time as the investigation is still ongoing.

Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Grewal would like to thank the East Rutherford Police Department and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance in this investigation.
