Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced upgraded charges of Murder, Felony Murder and Kidnapping against FRANCIS TATTOLI (DOB: 06/07/1992; single; and unemployed) of 258 Summer Street, Apt. 1B, East Rutherford, New Jersey. These additional charges were brought after his victim, MONET THOMAS, succumbed to her injuries while at Hackensack University Medical Center on December 28, 2016.
As previously reported, FRANCIS TATTOLI was arrested on December 18, 2016 by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit Homicide Squad under the direction of Chief Robert ANZILOTTI and the East Rutherford Police Department under the direction of Chief Larry MINDA, and was charged with Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose regarding an attack of a 25-year-old female at 258 Summer Street in E. Rutherford, New Jersey.
The additional charges came about as a result of a continued investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit Homicide Squad and the East Rutherford Police Department. TATTOLI was charged with one count of Felony Murder in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3a(3), a crime of the first degree; one count of Murder in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3a(1)(2), a crime of the first degree; and one (1) count of Kidnapping in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:13-1b, a crime of the first degree. His bail for these additional charges was set by the Honorable Susan J. Steele, P.J.Cr., at $3,000,000 with no 10% option, for a total bail for all charges being $5,000,000 with no 10% option. A first appearance date was set by the court for Tuesday, January 3, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. in Room 412 at the Bergen County Court House in Hackensack, NJ.
Prosecutor Grewal states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and would also like to thank the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Identification for their assistance in this investigation.
