Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of JORGE PEREZ (DOB: 2/19/1973; single; and unemployed) of 466 Jackson Avenue, Hackensack, New Jersey on charges related to narcotics possession and distribution. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office under the direction of Chief Robert ANZILOTTI, the Hackensack Police Department under the direction of Officer in Charge, Captain Francesco AQUILA, and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office under the direction of Sheriff Michael SAUDINO.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received information that Jorge PEREZ was distributing controlled dangerous substances in Bergen County, New Jersey. On Friday, January 6, 2017, while conducting surveillance, police personnel approached Mr. PEREZ for investigative purposes in Hackensack, New Jersey. At this time, he was found to be in possession of one pound of methamphetamine. A subsequent search at his residence and storage facilities yielded an additional six pounds of methamphetamine, approximately twenty grams of cocaine, nine ounces of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Mr. PEREZ was also in possession of $1,271.00. The approximate street value of the drugs seized on this date is $450,000.00.
JORGE PEREZ was arrested without incident, and was charged with one count of Possession with the Intent to Distribute a controlled dangerous substance, namely Methamphetamine in a quantity greater than five ounces, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5A(1)/5B(8), a first degree crime; one count of Possession with the Intent to Distribute a controlled dangerous substance, namely cocaine, in a quantity greater than one-half ounce but less than five ounces, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5A(1)/5B(2), a second degree crime; and one count of Possession with the Intent to Distribute a controlled dangerous substance, namely marijuana in a quantity greater than one ounce but less than five pounds, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5A(1)/5B(11), a third degree crime. Mr. PEREZ was subsequently remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in the Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court.
Bergen County Prosecutor Grewal states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and would also like to thank the Hackensack Police Department and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit for their assistance in this investigation.
