Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of NICHOLAS D’ANGELO (DOB: 9/6/1975; single; and employed as a pizzeria chef) of 40 Moonachie Road, Moonachie, New Jersey on charges related to steroid possession and distribution. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office under the direction of Chief Robert ANZILOTTI, the Moonachie Police Department under the direction of Officer-in-Charge Richard BEHRENS, and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office under the direction of Sheriff Michael SAUDINO.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received information that Nicholas D’ANGELO was distributing controlled dangerous substances, namely Steroids, in Bergen County, New Jersey. On Tuesday, January 17, 2017, a court-authorized search warrant was executed at D’ANGELO’s residence. Various types of anabolic steroids and syringes were seized from this location.
Nicholas D’ANGELO was arrested without incident, and was charged with one count of Possession With the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely Anabolic Steroids, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5B(13), a third degree crime; and one count of Possession With the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely Anabolic Steroids, within 1000 feet of the Robert L. Craig Middle School located at 20 West Park Street, Moonachie, New Jersey, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7, a third degree crime. D’ANGELO was released on his own recognizance pending a first appearance in the Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 8:30 a.m.
Bergen County Prosecutor Grewal states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and would also like to thank the Moonachie Police Department and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit for their assistance in this investigation.
