Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of GOODY SOTOMAYOR-GAMARRA (DOB: 8/03/1990; single; and employed at a fitness center) of 15 Spencer Place, Apartment # 2, Garfield, New Jersey on charges of Sexual Assault. The arrest is the result of a joint investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office under the direction of Chief Robert ANZILOTTI, and the Englewood Police Department under the direction of Chief Lawrence SUFFERN.
On Sunday, January 22, 2017, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office was contacted by the New York City Police Department and advised that two juvenile females disclosed that they were sexually assaulted by Goody SOTOMAYOR-GAMARRA. An investigation by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and Englewood Police Department ensued.
As a result of the investigation, Goody SOTOMAYO-GAMARRA was arrested on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 in Paramus, New Jersey and charged with two counts of Sexual Assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2c(4), a 2nd degree crime. SOTOMAYOR-GAMARRA was lodged in the Bergen County Jail pending his arraignment and is scheduled to appear in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court for a first appearance on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 1:30 p.m.
Prosecutor Grewal states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and would also like to thank the Englewood Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
