ABUDALLA ALHASSAN OF LODI, NJ WAS CHARGED WITH FRAUDULENT USE OF A CREDIT CARD AND CRIMINAL ATTEMPT TO COMMIT THEFT BY DECEPTION
Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. GREWAL announced the arrest of ABUDALLA ALHASSAN (DOB: 05/10/1993; single; employed as a livery driver) of 82 South Main Street, Lodi, NJ on charges of Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card and Attempted Theft by Deception. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, Financial Crimes Unit, under the direction of Chief Robert ANZILOTTI.
In December of 2015, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received information that an individual accessed credit card information of another, without his knowledge or consent, and utilized that credit account to purchase a 16GB Apple iPhone at a local Apple store in Paramus. During the course of the investigation it was determined that the suspect accessed the victim’s online credit card account and changed the victim’s identifying information and mailing address. The suspect also attempted to redeem reward points from the credit card account to purchase nine (9) $100.00 Best Buy gift cards. An investigation by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Financial Crimes Unit identified the suspect as ABUDALLA ALHASSAN.
As a result of the investigation, ABUDALLA ALHASSAN was arrested on Friday, February 3, 2017 in Paramus, NJ and charged with violating one count of Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:21-6(h), a crime of the third degree, and Attempted Theft by Deception, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:20-4/2C:5-1, a crime of the third degree. ALHASSAN is scheduled to appear in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court for a first appearance on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 8:30 a.m.
Bergen County Prosecutor Grewal states that this charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
