Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of JOMO GUSCOTT (DOB: 8/05/1993; single; and employed as a carpenter) of Englewood, New Jersey on charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office under the direction of Chief Robert ANZILOTTI and the Englewood Police Department under the direction of Chief Lawrence SUFFERN.
On Friday, February 10, 2017, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office was contacted by the Englewood Police Department and was advised that a juvenile female stated she was sexually assaulted by Jomo O. GUSCOTT. An investigation by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Englewood Police Department ensued.
As a result of the investigation, GUSCOTT was arrested on Friday, February 10, 2017 in Paramus, New Jersey, and charged with one count of Aggravated Sexual Assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(1), a 1st degree crime; and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a, a 2nd degree crime.
GUSCOTT was lodged in the Bergen County Jail pending his arraignment and is scheduled to appear in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court for a first appearance on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 8:30 a.m.
Bergen County Prosecutor Grewal states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and would also like to thank the Englewood Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
