CHARLES SCHWAB OF WESTWOOD CHARGED WITH DISTRIBUTION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of CHARLES E. SCHWAB (DOB: 03/24/1998; single; and unemployed) of 96 Third Avenue, Westwood, New Jersey on charges of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, to wit: Possession of Child Pornography and Distribution of Child Pornography. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Cyber Crimes Unit and the Cyber Crimes Task Force under the direction of Chief Robert ANZILOTTI.

On Friday, March 3, 2017, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit, while conducting an investigation involving CHARLES SCHWAB, found that SCHWAB utilized electronic devices such as a laptop computer to access the Internet and view images of child pornography and videos of prepubescent males.

As a result of the investigation, CHARLES SCHWAB was arrested on Friday, March 3, 2017 in Westwood and charged with one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, to wit; Possession of Child Pornography, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4B(5)(B), a third degree crime; and Distribution of Child Pornography, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4B(5)AI, a second degree crime. SCHWAB was charged by way of complaint summons and was released on his own recognizance pending his first appearance in the Bergen County Judicial Processing Court for on Wednesday, March 22, 2016 at 9:00 a.m.

Prosecutor Grewal states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and would like to thank the municipal police agencies that comprise the Cyber Crimes Task Force, and specifically those agencies that were instrumental in this investigation: the Hillsdale Police Department and the River Vale Police Department.
