Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrests of JUSTIN COOMBS (DOB: 3/13/1981; married; and employed as a manufacturing machinist) of 66 Howard Drive, Apt. H, Bergenfield, New Jersey; COURTNEY FUNG (DOB: 3/11/1981; single; and unemployed) of 66 Howard Drive, Apt. H, Bergenfield, New Jersey; Corey DEGROAT (DOB: 8/31/1976; single; and unemployed) of 250 Franklin Road, Englewood, New Jersey; Miguel A. SERRANO (DOB: 6/9/1962; divorced; employed as a restaurant supplier) of 66 Howard Drive, Apt. H, Bergenfield, New Jersey; and Dolford GILBERT (DOB: 5/14/1963; single; and unemployed) of Building 28, Apt 91, Park View Terrace, Englewood, New Jersey on drug related charges. These arrests are the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office under the direction of Chief Robert ANZILOTTI, the Dumont Police Department under the direction of Chief Michael CONNER, and the Bergenfield Police Department under the direction of Chief Cathy MADALONE.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received information that controlled dangerous substances were being distributed by Courtney FUNG and Justin COOMBS from their joint residence, located at 66 Howard Drive, Apt. H, Bergenfield, New Jersey. On Wednesday, March 8, 2017, police personnel executed a court authorized search warrant at their residence. The above-mentioned defendants were present at this location. Justin COOMBS was found to be in possession of approximately 17 grams of cocaine on his person. Inside the residence, an additional seven grams of cocaine, a digital scale, numerous unused plastic baggies commonly used to store narcotics, and a stolen Springfield .45 caliber handgun loaded with hollow-point bullets were located and seized as evidence. The handgun was confirmed to have been stolen from a vehicle in Broome County, New York.

The above-mentioned defendants were all arrested without incident. Justin COOMBS was charged with one count of possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, namely cocaine, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5A(1)/5B(2), a second degree crime; one count of possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, namely cocaine, within 1000 feet of Hoover Elementary School, 273 Murray Hill Terrace, Bergenfield, New Jersey, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7, a third degree crime; one count of possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4(a), a second degree crime; one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, specifically, while possessing with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, namely cocaine, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4.1(a), a second degree crime; one count of possessing stolen property, specifically, a stolen handgun, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:20-7(a), a third degree crime; one count of possession of hollow-point bullets, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-3(f), a fourth degree crime. COOMBS was remanded to the Bergen County Jail.

Courtney FUNG was charged with violating one count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, namely cocaine, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:32-10a(1), a third degree crime. FUNG was found to have an active arrest warrant for child neglect issued by the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office. FUNG was remanded to the Bergen County Jail.

Corey DEGROAT was charged with one count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, namely cocaine, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:32-10a(1), a third degree crime. DEGROAT was remanded to the Bergen County Jail.

Miguel SERRANO was charged with one count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, namely cocaine, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:32-10a(1), a third degree crime. SERRANO was released on his own recognizance pending a first appearance in the Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court.

Dolford GILBERT was charged with one count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, namely cocaine, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:32-10a(1), a third degree crime. GILBERT was found to have an active arrest warrant for child neglect issued by the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office. GILBERT was remanded to the Bergen County Jail.

Bergen County Prosecutor Grewal states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and would also like to thank the Dumont Police Department and the Bergenfield Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
