Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of JASON D. NGUYEN (DOB: 9/18/1977; single; and employed as a manager of a salon) of 24 Walnut Terrace, Bloomfield, NJ. This arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office under the direction of Sheriff Michael Saudino, the Hackensack Police Department under the direction of Officer in Charge Captain Frank Aquila, the Upper Saddle River Police Department under the direction of Chief Patrick Rotella, the Paramus Police Department under the direction of Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg, the Bloomfield Police Department under the direction of Police Director Samuel DeMaio, and the Emerson Police Department under the direction of Chief Michael Mazzeo.
A narcotics investigation revealed that Jason D. NGUYEN was involved in the distribution of controlled dangerous substances. During this investigation, NGUYEN distributed marijuana to a Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office detective who was operating in an undercover capacity. On Wednesday, July 12, 2017, law enforcement personnel executed a search warrant on NGUYEN’s vehicle and residence, and five pounds of marijuana were located and seized in his vehicle. Drug paraphernalia including a vacuum sealer and digital scale, items consistent with the packaging of marijuana for distribution purposes, were located and seized at the residence. The estimated street value of the suspected controlled dangerous substances seized on this date is $25,000.
Jason NGUYEN was charged with one count of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5B(11), Distribution of Marijuana, a Third Degree Crime; and one count of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5B(10)(b), Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana, a Second Degree Crime. NGUYEN was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a Central Judicial Processing court date.
Prosecutor Grewal states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and would like to thank the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, the Hackensack Police Department, the Upper Saddle River Police Department, the Emerson Police Department, and the Bloomfield Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
