Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of JOHN MIELEC (DOB: 11/27/1984; single; and unemployed) of 146 Trimble Avenue, Clifton, New Jersey on narcotics related charges. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department under the direction of Sheriff Michael Saudino, and the Garfield Police Department under the direction of Officer-in-Charge Captain Raymond Kovach.
These law enforcement agencies received information that John MIELEC was distributing cocaine and hashish oils throughout Bergen and Passaic Counties. On August 17, 2017, police personnel conducted a joint operation in Garfield, New Jersey and executed a search warrant on John MIELEC’s vehicle, which led to his arrest, without incident, and the recovery of approximately twenty grams of cocaine and approximately eight hashish oil pens.
John MIELEC was charged with one count of Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely Cocaine, in a quantity of one-half ounce or more, but less than five ounces, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5B(2), a Second Degree Crime; one count of Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely Hashish Oil in a quantity greater than five grams but less than one ounce, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5B(11), a Third Degree Crime.
MIELEC was released on his own recognizance pending a Central Judicial Processing Court hearing on Wednesday, August 30, 2017.
Prosecutor Grewal states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and would also like to thank the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department and the Garfield Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
