On Monday, August 21, 2017, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force was conducting a drug trafficking investigation on Interstate 95 near the George Washington Bridge in Fort Lee. During that investigation, detectives stopped RODOLMY GONZALEZ-HERNANDEZ as he operated a 2009 Buick Enclave in the area of the lower level toll plaza. A search of the vehicle revealed seven kilograms of suspected cocaine in a duffle bag on the back seat, as well as 16 kilograms of suspected cocaine concealed in an electronically operated hidden compartment inside the vehicle. In total, 23 kilograms of cocaine were seized.
GONZALEZ-HERNANDEZ was placed under arrest and charged with one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5B(1), a crime in the First Degree. He is currently lodged in Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance.
Prosecutor Grewal states that this charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
