Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of RAYMOND GONZALEZ (DOB: 11/24/1954; married; and unemployed) of 324 Cleveland Avenue, Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey on Theft by Deception and Forgery related charges. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Financial Crimes Unit under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti.
In March 2016, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received a complaint that Raymond GONZALEZ, the owner and operator of RPM Management, had unlawfully accessed and stolen funds from the bank accounts of a Bergen County based condominium association. An investigation conducted by Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Financial Crimes Unit detectives revealed that between 2011 and 2016, GONZALEZ, as the operator of the condominium association’s management company, had access to a line of credit account which had been opened for the association. GONZALEZ removed monies from the account, transferred them into accounts held by his management company and used them for his personal benefit. In an effort to write fraudulent checks from the account, Gonzalez forged the signatures of two of the condominium association’s board members. The total theft, which took place over a period of five years, was in excess of $100,000.00.
As a result of the investigation, RAYMOND GONZALEZ was arrested on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 in Paramus, New Jersey, and was charged with one count of Theft by Deception, with a benefit greater than $75,000, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:20-4a, a 2nd degree crime; and two counts of Forgery, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:21-1A(2), each a 3rd degree crime.
GONZALEZ was released after being served with a Complaint-Summons, and is scheduled to appear in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court for a first appearance on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 8:30 a.m.
Prosecutor Grewal states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
