JAMIL ROBINSON CHARGED WITH RESISTING ARREST, OBSTRUCTING THE ADMINISTRATION OF LAW OR OTHER GOVERNMENTAL FUNCTION, CRIMINAL ATTEMPT, AND CONSPIRACY TO DISTRIBUTE A CONTROLLED DANGEROUS SUBSTANCE

Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of JAMIL ROBINSON (DOB: 05/27/1994; single; unemployed), of 190 Pearl Avenue, Haledon, New Jersey on charges related to resisting arrest, obstructing the administration of law or other governmental function, criminal attempt and conspiracy to distribute a controlled dangerous substance. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, the Hackensack Police Department under the direction of Officer in Charge Francesco Aquila, and the Paramus Police Department under the direction of Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received information that Jamil ROBINSON was distributing controlled dangerous substances in Paramus, New Jersey. On Tuesday, August, 29, 2017, police personnel conducted an undercover operation for Jamil ROBINSON to sell heroin to an undercover detective of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office. Shortly after the drug transaction, Jamil ROBINSON resisted arrest and eluded law enforcement personnel.

Jamil ROBINSON was arrested and charged with violating one count of Resistin Arrest by Flight, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:29-2A(3), a Third Degree Crime, one count of Engaging in conduct which would constitute the crime of Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely Heroin, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5-1A(1)/2C:35-5B(3), a Third Degree Crime, one count of Resisting Arrest by Flight by means of creating a Substantial Risk of Bodily Injury to a Public Servant, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:29-2B, a Third Degree Crime, one count of Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely Heroin to an undercover detective, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5- 2A(1)/2C:35-5B(3), a Third Degree Crime, and one count of Obstruction of a Governmental Function, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:29-1A, a Fourth Degree Crime.

Jamil ROBINSON was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in the Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court.

Bergen County Prosecutor Grewal states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and would also like to thank the Hackensack Police Department and the Paramus Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
