JAQUAN SUBER OF FORT LEE, NJ CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF FIREARM FOR UNLAWFUL PURPOSE AND POINTING FIREARM AT POLICE OFFICERS

 

Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of JAQUAN A. SUBER of 485 Summit Avenue, Fort Lee, New Jersey (DOB: 12/12/87) on the following charges: Possession of Firearm for Unlawful Purpose, specifically to use it unlawfully against Fort Lee Police officers, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4A(1), a second degree crime; Possession of a Handgun Without Obtaining a Permit in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5B(1), a second degree crime; and Pointing a Firearm Under Circumstances Manifesting Extreme Indifference, specifically by pointing it at Fort Lee Police Officers, a Third Degree crime.  The charges arise from an incident earlier this morning during which Suber was shot by Fort Lee Police officers after they responded to 485 Summit Avenue.  Suber is presently at Hackensack University Medical Center receiving medical care and in police custody.  The investigation of the shooting of Suber is ongoing.  

 

Prosecutor Grewal states that these charges are merely accusations, and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt
