Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of CHRISTINE TENCHKA (DOB: 12/09/82; single; and employed as a Correction Officer) of Garfield, New Jersey on a charge of Child Abuse. The arrest is the result of a joint investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, and the Garfield Police Department under the direction of Chief Raymond Kovach.
On Monday, October 30, 2017, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received information from the Division of Child Protection and Permanency that a juvenile responded to school with bruising to the arms and legs. As a result of the information received, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Garfield Police Department initiated an investigation.
As a result of the investigation, Christine TENCHKA was arrested on Monday, October 30, 2017 in Garfield and charged with one count of Child Abuse, N.J.S.A. 9:6-3, a 4th degree crime. TENCHKA is scheduled to appear in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court for a first appearance on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 8:30 a.m.
Prosecutor Grewal states that this charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and would also like to thank the Garfield Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
