Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of MARGARITO HERNANDEZ-VALLADARES (DOB: 06/15/1994; single; and employed as a laborer) of 45 Mattlage Place, Englewood, New Jersey on charges of Attempted Sexual Assault, Criminal Restraint, and Criminal Sexual Contact. The arrest is the result of a joint investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Englewood Police Department under the direction of Chief Lawrence Suffern.
On Friday, July 28, 2017, members of the Englewood Police Department received a report that an unknown male attempted to sexually assault an 83-year-old female as she was walking to church in Englewood, New Jersey. As a result of a joint investigation by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Englewood Police Department, Margarito HERNANDEZ-VALLADARES was arrested on Thursday, November 9, 2017 in Englewood, New Jersey and charged with one count of Attempted Sexual Assault, N.J.S.A. 2C: 5-1/2C:14-2c(1), a second degree crime; one count of Criminal Restraint, N.J.S.A. 2C:13-2a, a third degree crime; and one count of Criminal Sexual Contact, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-3(b), a fourth degree crime. HERNANDEZ-VALLADARES appeared in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court for arraignment on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 1:30 p.m.
Prosecutor Grewal states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and would also like to thank the Englewood Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
